This page sets out the company, regulatory and professional information we are required to make available, together with the practical detail you may need before instructing us. It sits alongside our Terms & Conditions, Privacy Policy and Cookies Policy.
This website is operated by AK Consulting (Yorkshire) Limited, which trades as AK VAT Advisory.
We aim to respond to all enquiries within one working day.
AK Consulting (Yorkshire) Limited is supervised by HM Revenue & Customs for the purposes of the Money Laundering, Terrorist Financing and Transfer of Funds (Information on the Payer) Regulations 2017.
As a supervised firm we are required to verify the identity of our clients before we begin work, and to keep records of that verification. What this means in practice is set out at clause 8 of our Terms & Conditions.
We carry professional indemnity insurance appropriate to the work we undertake, as required for the provision of professional services in the United Kingdom.
Our liability to clients is limited as set out at clause 11 of our Terms & Conditions, and in the engagement letter agreed for each piece of work.
We are the data controller for the personal data we hold about our clients and website visitors. How we collect, use and protect that data is set out in full in our Privacy Policy.
You have the right to complain to the ICO if you are unhappy with how we have handled your personal data.
If you are unhappy with any aspect of our service, please tell us. Raise the matter with us in the first instance by emailing hello@akvat.co.uk or by writing to us at our registered office, setting out what has gone wrong and what you would like us to do about it.
We will acknowledge your complaint promptly, investigate it, and respond in writing. Our full complaints procedure is set out at clause 13 of our Terms & Conditions. If your complaint concerns how we have handled your personal data, you may also raise it with the Information Commissioner’s Office.
All work is carried out on our Terms & Conditions, read together with the engagement letter issued for the specific piece of work. The engagement letter records the scope of the work, the fee, and anything expressly excluded. Where the two conflict, the engagement letter takes precedence.
We do not accept instructions on a client’s own standard terms unless we have agreed to do so in writing.
The material on this website — including the guidance articles in our Insights section — is published for general information. It reflects our understanding of the law at the date of publication, and VAT law changes.
It is not advice, and it is not a substitute for advice. It does not take account of your circumstances, and no client relationship arises from reading it. You should not act, or refrain from acting, on the basis of anything on this site without taking specific advice on your own position. We accept no liability for any loss arising from reliance on this website by anyone who is not a client.
